BUILDING
Includes all houses and dwellings, stores, and business places
and other buildings which front on any street in the Borough.
The Borough Engineer, the Borough's Tax Assessor, and/or
the Borough's Tax Collector shall plot on the tax maps of the
Borough all the properties which now or hereafter front on any street,
and he or she shall designate and assign a number therefor.
All buildings within the Borough shall bear in figures or words
the house number assigned to the building on the tax maps of the Borough.
Such figure shall be displayed by the owner or occupant on the front
of the building in contrast to its background, or in the front yard
in numerals at least three inches in height, at or near the front
entrance to the building, and so located as to be visible to persons
passing by the building or premises on the abutting street.
On completion of the plotting on the Borough tax maps of the
numbers assigned to all lots and buildings on any particular street,
the Borough Engineer and/or his or her designee shall file a copy
with the Clerk.
Upon any subdivision or resubdivision of land in the Borough
resulting in a lot or lots other than those delineated on the map,
the Borough Engineer, the Borough's Tax Assessor, and/or the
Borough's Tax Collector shall assign a number to such lot, which
shall be in proper numerical sequence in relation to the number assigned
to the other lots fronting on the same street.
No major or minor subdivision or resubdivision of land requiring
approval by the Land Use Board shall be approved by it unless a number
is assigned by the Engineer to each lot for the building erected or
to be erected on it.
During the construction of any property in the Borough, the
owner of such property shall place a temporary fixture and/or sign
depicting the house number, in figures at least three inches in height.
Such fixture and/or sign shall face the street.
No certificate of occupancy shall be issued by the Construction
Code Official or Zoning Officer or anyone in his or her department
for the occupancy of any building erected or enlarged unless the provisions
