1. It shall be the duty of all owners, tenants, or occupants of occupied
properties and the owners or agents in charge of unoccupied properties
abutting on sidewalks adjacent to public streets in East Nottingham
Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, not later than 24 hours after
snow, sleet or freezing rain has ceased to fall, to clear, or cause
to be cleared, a pathway in the sidewalk in front of their respective
properties in the event of snow and to cover the sidewalks with snow
and/or ice control materials in the event of ice and sleet.
2. The pathway to be shoveled for snow shall not be less than 24 inches
in width and shall be thoroughly cleared of snow and ice or covered
with snow and ice control materials.
3. Where snow and ice are removed from the sidewalk pathway area it
may be piled on the curbside of the highway, but only if it does not
interfere with the cartway. Otherwise, the snow shall be placed on
the building side of the sidewalk.

It shall be the duty of all owners, tenants or occupants of
occupied properties and the owners or agents in charge of unoccupied
properties abutting on sidewalks adjacent to public streets in East
Nottingham Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania to maintain to a
safe condition the structure and surface integrity of sidewalks abutting
their properties. Said structural integrity shall include, but not
be limited to, broken or flaked sidewalks which create an unsafe walking
surface and cracks substantial enough to be a hazard to pedestrians
as well as sidewalks whose level is at an angle greater than that
of its adjacent part thereby creating a tripping hazard to pedestrians.

1. Any individual, group, firm or other entity who is a tenant, owner or occupier who shall fail to comply with the provisions of §
21-301 of this Part shall be subject to the penalty of not less than $25 per offense. Upon the owners or operators continued failure to treat the sidewalk for ice and snow, for every twenty-four-hour period at which this snow or ice fails to be treated shall constitute a second offense.
2. For any individual, group, firm or other entity who is a tenant, owner or occupier and who is in violation of §
21-302 above, the violation shall be subject to penalty after the condition fails to be corrected within the lime set forth in the notice for repair or replacement of the failure to maintain the sidewalk. Each offense shall result in a penalty of $25.
3. The Township has the right to secure the collection of this penalty
by proceedings before a magisterial district judge in accordance with
the rules and regulations established by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

This Part shall be enforced by an employee or officer of the
Township of East Nottingham as designated by the Board of Supervisors
on a periodic basis.
