Sex Offender Registration Act — See Correction Law Art. 6-C, § 168 et seq.
The purpose of this chapter is to provide local law enforcement with additional information about Level 3 sex offenders. This is critical to preventing sexual victimization and resolving incidents involving sexual abuse and exploitation promptly. The Sex Offender Verification Form will equip local law enforcement with the necessary tools to alert the public when necessary for the continued safety and protection of the community and will provide a means to penalize those Level 3 sex offenders who intentionally mislead a public servant by providing false statements in the Sex Offender Verification Form.
This chapter is hereby adopted as set forth herein and shall be entitled the "Sex Offender Verification Law."
This chapter shall apply to Level 3 sex offenders as classified in accordance with New York Correction Law Article 6-C, the Sex Offender Registration Act.
