This chapter shall be known and cited as the "Denville Township
Ordinance Regulating Parks and Recreation Areas."
The following words shall have the following meaning unless
the context clearly indicates otherwise.
ANIMALS
Includes cats, dogs, horses, any fowl or birds, or any other
living creatures within the jurisdiction of the park.
DIRECTOR
The Director of Parks and Recreation.
DOG AND CAT LICENSE
A current license issued by a governmental authority, which
represents that a dog or cat has a valid, unexpired rabies inoculation.
DOG PARK PASS
A permit issued by the Division of Health, which allows a
particular dog to use the Happy Hound Playground Dog Park.
HANDLER
An individual at least 18 years of age in possession of a
valid dog park pass and responsible for dog(s) while at the Happy
Hound Playground Dog Park.
ORGANIZED ACTIVITY
Any use of park facilities under the control and/or sponsorship
of a league, organization or corporation.
PATH
Any footpath, walk or any path maintained for pedestrians.
PERMIT
Any written license issued by or under the authority of the
Township, permitting an event or activity on park facilities.
PERSON
Any natural person, corporation, company, association, joint-stock
association, firm or copartnership.
POLICE or OFFICER
Any person employed by the Township as a regular or special
Township Police Officer.
RIGHT-OF-WAY
The privilege of the immediate use of the roadway, drive
or path.
SAFETY ZONE
Any space (within a drive) established for pedestrians or
use by Township Police Department.
SOLICITING
Selling goods or services by sample or by taking orders for
future delivery with or without accepting advance payment for the
goods; seeking any form of contributions.
STOPPING or STANDING
When prohibited, shall mean any cessation of movement of
a vehicle, occupied or not, except when necessary to avoid conflict
with other traffic, including horses.
TRAFFIC
Pedestrians, ridden or herded animals or vehicles, either
singly or together, while in the confines of the park's jurisdiction.
VEHICLE
Any conveyance (except baby carriages), including motor vehicles,
trailers, campers, tricycles, bicycles, sleds, sleighs, pushcarts,
boats, or vehicles propelled by other than muscular power; also any
horse.
VENDING
To sell, to dispose of by sale or trade.
WORKING DOG
A dog which is owned or contracted for by the Township for
wildlife control purposes.
In the interpretation of this and all succeeding park ordinances,
the provisions shall be construed as follows:
A. Any term in the singular shall include the plural.
B. Any term in the masculine shall include the feminine and neuter.
C. Any requirement or prohibition of any act shall, respectively, extend
to and include the causing and procuring, directly or indirectly,
of such act.
