[HISTORY: Adopted by the Borough Council of the Borough of Sewickley 9-18-1900 by Ord. No. 281B (Ch. 4, Part 2, of the 1996 Code of Ordinances). Amendments noted where applicable.]
The Borough Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to prepare a plan of the said Borough of Sewickley, indicating the lots and the houses erected thereon, and to number said lots, allowing 100 numbers to each square, said numbering to begin at Academy Avenue, running thence southeastwardly to Boundary Street; and at the high-water mark of the Ohio River, running thence northeastwardly to the Borough line, said numbering to conform as nearly as practicable to the Philadelphia plan of numbering. It shall be the duty of said Engineer to notify the owners or occupants of all houses and buildings of the number given said lot and require him, her or them to have said number carved, painted or attached in a conspicuous and proper place upon the front of said house or building within 30 days after notice, and all persons hereafter erecting houses or buildings upon any street, lane or alley within said Borough shall procure from said Engineer the proper number of their said lot and within 30 days thereafter cause the said number to be carved, painted or attached in the manner aforesaid.

Any person or persons failing to comply with the terms of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $600 plus costs and, in default of payment of said fine and costs, to a term of imprisonment not to exceed 30 days. Each day that a violation of this chapter continues shall constitute a separate offense.
