The City hereby adopts the International Building Code, Appendix H, 2018 Edition, as recommended by the International Code Council, Inc., one (1) copy of which code is on file in the office of the City Clerk and marked "Official Copy."

It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person to post any sign or bill on the private property of any person within the City without the consent of such person owning or having charge of such property.

A. 
No billboards or signs shall be permitted in any residential district except as provided for in Section 400.130(B) and (D). Billboards, banners and signboards will be permitted in commercial and industrial districts when utilized to advertise a business or lot upon which a sign is located subject to the requirements of the district in which the use is located, the following requirements apply to the City of Aurora Sign Code:
1. 
Size. Maximum sign size of six hundred (600) square feet will be permitted within one thousand eight hundred (1,800) feet of the Highway 60 commercial corridor. All others will be limited to one hundred (100) square feet total signage on a freestanding base.
2. 
Setback. At least five (5) feet from the street right-of-way to the supporting structure.
3. 
Maintenance. Kept properly painted, supported and cleaned.
4. 
Locations. No part of a sign shall extend beyond the property line except in District "C-2" where an elevated sign may extend to the curbline; in no district shall the supporting structure be located in the right-of-way.
5. 
Plans. Plans showing the elevation and plan views of all advertising signs in all business and industrial zones must be submitted to the Building Official for final approval.
6. 
Sign Height Regulations. Maximum of eighty (80) feet overall sign height will be permitted within one thousand eight hundred (1,800) feet of the Highway 60 commercial corridor. All others will be limited to a thirty (30) foot maximum sign height.
