The survey, plan and system for the numbering of houses and buildings prepared by Chester Engineers, a copy of which is attached hereto[1] and made a part hereof, is hereby approved and adopted.

A. 
On and after the passage and approval of this chapter, it shall be the duty of each and every owner, trustee, lessee, agent and occupant of each and every house, building or other structure in the Borough of Avis to cause the same to be numbered in accordance with this chapter, and the system and plan hereby adopted and approved.
B. 
In addition, every owner, trustee, lessee, agent and occupant of any apartment, boarding room or any structure containing separate living quarters shall provide for the numbering of same for the purpose of aiding emergency personnel in locating a particular unit within a structure. Each apartment, boarding room or separate living quarters shall be designated by level (floor, i.e., basement, first floor, second floor, third floor) and number or letter (e.g., Apartment 1, Apartment A).
C. 
All apartments, boarding rooms or other living quarters with a separate exterior entrance shall be labeled both at the exterior and interior entrances.
A. 
The numbering shall be placed in a conspicuous place on street side of property near entrance. The number sign shall be:
(1) 
Of metal or plastic, at least four inches in height, with the color of the number to be bright white and the color of the immediate background to be bright blue.

(2) 
Mounted a minimum of 36 inches in height but not more than 72 inches from the ground or porch, if the residence/building contains same.
(3) 
Placed in such position that it may be viewed from the opposite side of the street upon which the numbering has been place.
B. 
It shall be unlawful to cover any house number with any sign, drapery or other obstruction tending to conceal such number.
C. 
All interior letters or numbers on apartments, boarding rooms and other living quarters shall be of contrasting color to the background upon which it is placed and shall be at least three inches in height. The location of said number or letter shall be on the entrance door or to the immediate right of the door, not less than 36 inches nor more than 72 inches in height measured from the floor.
D. 
All numbers presently located on the building not in compliance with the provisions of this chapter shall be removed at the time a new number is assigned or when so directed by the Borough Zoning Officer.
A. 
Brady Street shall be the dividing point between all streets running perpendicular thereto and designated as east and west. Numbers shall commence at one and shall extend eastward and westward consecutively in accordance with the attached plan.[1] All even numbers shall be on the north side of each street and all odd numbers shall be on the south side of each street.

B. 
Central Avenue shall be the dividing point between all streets running perpendicular thereto and designated as north and south. Numbers shall commence at one and shall extend northward or southward consecutively in accordance with the attached plan. All even numbers shall be on the west side of each street and all odd numbers shall be on the east side of each street.
C. 
Martin Street westward to Ross Street shall be designated as West Martin Street.
D. 
Martin Street from Park Street eastward to Cliff Street shall be designated as East Martin Street.
E. 
Any residence or building located on an alley or would otherwise be a short or intermediate street shall be numbered in accordance with the larger streets which parallel same.
Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate any provision of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $600 and in default of payment thereof, to imprisonment for a term not to exceed 30 days.
