A.
Words and phrases, when used in this chapter, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in the Vehicle Code (the Act of 1976 P.L. 162, No. 81, as amended),[1] except that, in this chapter, the word "street" may be used interchangeably with the word "highway," and shall have the same meaning as the word "highway" as defined in the Vehicle Code.

B.
The word "holiday," as used in this chapter, shall mean and include: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas.
C.
Although the streets in the Borough run generally in a northwest-southwest and northeast-southeast direction, for the purpose of this chapter, Main Street and the streets running parallel or generally parallel to Main Street shall be deemed to run in a north-south direction, with the northern terminus towards Pottstown and the southern terminus toward Norristown. Streets intersecting with Main Street or parallel or generally parallel with those streets shall be deemed to run in an east-west direction, with their eastern terminus toward Perkiomen Township and Shippack Township and their western terminus toward Upper Providence Township. Streets that intersect with and extend on both sides of Main Street are designated "East" for the section or portion east of Main Street and "West" for section or portion west of Main Street.
D.
In determining distances from an intersection in this chapter, the point of intersection shall be the intersection of the curblines of the two streets, that curbline being on the side of the street as stated.
