Pursuant to §§ 61.195, 61.197 and 66.0101, Wis.
Stats., the Village of Winneconne hereby elects not to be governed
by those portions of §§ 61.19, 61.25, 61.26 and 61.261,
Wis. Stats., which relate to the selection and tenure of the Deputy
Clerk and Deputy Treasurer, and which are in conflict with this article.
The Village Board may appoint a Deputy Clerk and/or Deputy Treasurer
or may combine such positions with the positions of Village Clerk
and/or Village Treasurer subject to confirmation by a majority of
all of the members of the Village Board. The Deputy Clerk and Deputy
Treasurer shall each have an indefinite term of office. The Deputy
Treasurer shall perform the duties of the Village Treasurer during
the temporary absence or disability of the Village Treasurer or during
a vacancy in such office. The Deputy Clerk shall perform the duties
of the Village Clerk during the temporary absence or disability of
the Village Clerk or during a vacancy in such office. The acts of
the deputies shall be covered by official bond as the Village Board
shall direct. The positions of Deputy Clerk and Deputy Treasurer may
be combined with other employees of the Village (Amended Charter Ordinance).
The entirety of the Village Ordinances shall also hereby be
amended to reflect this Amended Charter Ordinance, including, without
limitation, references to the Deputy Clerk-Treasurer shall now refer
to either the Deputy Clerk or the Deputy Treasurer as context demands
and consistent with this article, Wisconsin statute, order of the
Village Board and the applicable job description, as approved by the
Village Board.
