For the purpose of this chapter, certain words and terms used
herein are defined as follows:
GARAGE SALES
All sales entitled or commonly known as "garage sale," "lawn
sale," "attic sale," "rummage sale," "flea market sale" or any similar
casual sale of goods or tangible personal property which is advertised
by any means whereby the public at large is or can be made aware of
said sale.
GOODS
Any personal property, warehouse merchandise or other property
capable of being the object of a sale regulated hereunder.
PERSON
Any individual, partnership, volunteer association, limited
liability company or for-profit or nonprofit corporation.
All garage sales shall be conducted between the hours of 9:00
a.m. and 6:00 p.m. only.
Signs are permitted on private property or in the public right-of-way.
Signs may not be attached to trees, street and traffic signs, bus
shelters, or any other public or private property. Signs shall be
located so that they do not interfere with sight lines or create a
traffic or safety hazard. All signs must include the address and date
of the sale. All signs shall be removed within 24 hours after the
completion of the sale.
This chapter shall be enforced by the Ridgefield Park Police
Department and/or the Building Department.
Any person who shall violate this chapter shall, upon conviction,
be fined $100 for a first offense, $250 for a second offense, and
$500 for a third or subsequent offense. Each day that a violation
continues shall be considered a separate violation.
