The Wrightsville Fire, Steam and Hose Company or its duly constituted successor in title, hereinafter designated "fire company," shall nominate such of its members over 21 years of age as it desires as special fire police.

The nominations so made shall be promptly reviewed by the Mayor, and the Mayor shall, within 15 days after receipt thereof, notify the fire company of any nominations deemed by him not qualified or suitable for special fire police.
2. 
The fire company may, in its discretion, thereafter, forward additional nominations in place of any ones so rejected to be reviewed in the manner set forth above and to be sworn into office as soon thereafter as possible.

All special fire police, as provided for, shall take an oath as prescribed by Council to be administered by the Mayor on the first Monday of January of each year, and in the event of any replacements made necessary by resignation, death, suspension or rejection as above provided for, as soon thereafter as possible.

The Mayor shall issue to each such special fire police officer a badge of authority, clearly designated "Wrightsville Special Fire Police Officer."
2. 
The special fire police so authorized shall display this badge at all times when on such duties as hereinafter provided for.

The special fire police so authorized and confirmed shall have full power at or in the vicinity of any fire in the Borough of Wrightsville or at such other locality in which the fire company is in attendance to regulate traffic, keep crowds under control and to exercise such other police powers as are necessary in order to facilitate and prevent interference with the work of firemen in extinguishing fires.

The special fire police, in addition to the powers enumerated, shall be vested with all necessary police powers when requested to serve at any emergency or public gathering by the Borough Council.
2. 
Provided always that such additional duties shall be on a volunteer basis and not be subject to compensation unless duly authorized by Borough Council.

All special fire police shall be subject to the control of the Chief of Police when in performance of their duties.
