[Adopted 7-8-2019 by Ord. No. 01-2019]
This article shall be titled the "Hopewell Township Supervisors'
Compensation Ordinance of 2019."
The purpose of this article is to establish a schedule of compensation
for the Supervisors of Hopewell Township pursuant to Act 60 of 1995
(see 53 P.S. § 65606).
Each Supervisor of the Hopewell Township elected or appointed
to office on or after January 1, 2020, shall receive compensation
for attending duly advertised meetings or other executive sessions
of the Board of Supervisors at the rate of $1,875.
Such compensation shall be paid in monthly or quarterly installments
of the discretion of the Board of Supervisors. The Supervisor(s) must
attend at least one duly advertised meeting or executive session for
the month in order to receive compensation set forth herein.
No Supervisor shall receive annual compensation under this section
in excess of the annual statutory limit set by the General Assembly
in Act 68 (1985) for Supervisors of Second Class Townships within
the appropriate population category.
Members of the Board of Supervisors whose terms of office commenced
prior to January 1, 2020, shall receive compensation in accordance
with a previously enacted ordinance.
Such compensation shall be paid in four quarterly installments
or monthly installments at the discretion of the Board of Supervisors.
The salary to be paid to each Supervisor pursuant to this section
is considered compensation for services rendered by the Supervisor(s)
for the duties imposed by law on Supervisors of Second Class Townships.
Should a Supervisor perform services for the Township while acting
as a superintendent, roadmaster or laborer, the Supervisor shall be
entitled to such additional compensation as is determined by the Township
Auditors. However, no Supervisor shall receive compensation as a superintendent
or roadmaster for time he/she spends attending a meeting of the Board
of Supervisors.
In the event that any provision, section, sentence or portion
of this article shall be held invalid, such invalidity shall not effect
or impair any of the remaining provision of this article, as the provisions
are severable and would have been enacted had not such invalid provisions
been included herein. All ordinances or parts of ordinances which
are inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed.
Any ordinance containing any provision inconsistent herewith
to the extent that such provision is inconsistent, that provision
is also hereby repealed.
This article shall become effective immediately.
