The plan and system for the numbering of houses and buildings prepared by the Board of Supervisors, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, and commonly known as the "Uniform Measurement System," is hereby approved and adopted.[1]

On and after the passage and approval of this chapter, it shall be the duty of each and every owner, trustee, lessee, agent and occupant of each and every house, building or other structure in the Township to cause the same to be numbered in accordance with this chapter and the system and plan hereby adopted and approved.
A. 
Placement of number.
(1) 
The number shall be placed in a conspicuous place on or over each front door, on the front transom bar, front transom or front show window, over or on either side of the entrance, the same number to be of paint, metal or enamel, and at least three inches in height, the color of the numbers to be in contrast to the immediate background, and shall be so placed as to be in full view from the opposite side of the street.
(2) 
If the building is not visible from the street, or is set back from the street in such a manner that the building number is not clearly visible from the opposite side of the street, the number shall be placed on a post, mailbox post or similar structure adjacent to the driveway entrance. The numbers shall be placed so as to be a minimum of three feet above the ground level and the numbers shall be at least three inches in height.
B. 
It shall be unlawful to cover any house number with any sign, drapery, or other obstruction tending to conceal such number.
C. 
The Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized to require the numbering of any house, building or other structure in accordance with this chapter.
The numbering system shall be based on increments of 1/1,000 of a mile. Numbers are then determined and assigned by dividing the footage from the beginning of the street to the building by 5.28 and adding the prefix determined by the number of miles from the beginning of the street. (i.e., If the place to be addressed is 3,263 feet from the second mile from the beginning of the street, 3,263 is divided by 5.28, which equals 618. Adding the two, the number of miles from the beginning of the street, the number is 2618 (or 2617 if on the odd side of the street.)

Any person who violates or permits a violation of this chapter shall, upon conviction in a summary proceeding brought before a Magisterial District Judge under the Pennsylvania Rules of Criminal Procedure, be guilty of a summary offense and shall be punishable by a fine of not more than $1,000, plus costs of prosecution. In default of payment thereof, the defendant may be sentenced to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 90 days. Each day or portion thereof that such violation continues or is permitted to continue shall constitute a separate offense, and each section of this chapter that is violated shall also constitute a separate offense.
If any sentence, clause, section, or part of this chapter is for any reason found to be unconstitutional, illegal or invalid, such unconstitutionality, illegality or invalidity shall not affect or impair any of the remaining provisions, sentences, clauses, sections or parts of this chapter. It is hereby declared as the intent of the Township that this chapter would have been adopted had such unconstitutional, illegal or invalid sentence, clause, section or part thereof not been included herein.
