The members of the Newtown Volunteer Fire Department are hereby authorized to perform hazardous materials duties (hereinafter referred to as "HAZMAT") as an extended duty while engaged as firefighters and while performing firefighting duties, or while performing any duties other than firefighting duties of the Newtown Volunteer Fire Department which have been duly authorized by the Borough of Newtown.

All HAZMAT personnel are required to be members of the Newtown Volunteer Fire Department, and each member of the Newtown Volunteer Fire Department shall be required to limit the duties that he or she performs to the level of HAZMAT training that he or she has received.
