There is hereby established for the Township a Nonprofit Advisory Commission, to consist of no more than 21 individuals, consisting of a designee of the Hamilton YMCA, a designee of the John O. Wilson Center, a designee of the Bromley Civic Center, a designee from each of 15 nonprofit organizations providing services within the Township, of which nine shall be appointed by the Mayor and six shall be appointed by the Council, the Mayor or his or her designee, Hamilton Township Council liaison, and a liaison from the Hamilton Township School District.
The nine nonprofits appointed by the Mayor shall serve a two-year term or until another nonprofit organization is appointed, whichever is later. The six nonprofits appointed by the Council shall serve a one-year term or until another nonprofit organization is appointed, whichever is later.
The members of the Commission shall choose annually from among its members a chairperson, vice-chairperson, secretary and treasurer. The Mayor or his or her designee, Hamilton Township Council liaison, and Hamilton Township School District liaison shall be prohibited from serving as an officer of the Commission.
The Commission shall be responsible for advising the Mayor and Council on fostering relationships among the Township and nonprofit organizations, and among nonprofit organizations themselves, in order to improve the services provided by nonprofit organizations to the Hamilton Township community.
The Commission shall meet at least six times per calendar year at the call of the chairperson, but in no event shall the Commission meet more than once in any one calendar month. Meetings shall be open to the public.
The Commission shall make semiannual reports of its activities to the Mayor and Council, setting forth in detail its operations and transactions, and providing recommendations to the Mayor and Council as may be necessary to carry out the purposes set forth in § 5-193.11.
There shall be appropriated in each annual budget of the Township such sum as may be determined by the Mayor and Council to be necessary for the purpose of providing funding to administer this Commission.
