The Quarryville Fire Company Number One, organized and existing
in the Borough of Quarryville, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, is
hereby designated as the officially recognized volunteer fire company
for the Borough.
A.
The Fire Company recognized by the Borough is hereby authorized to
provide such services to the Borough as may be necessary for the protection
of property and persons situate therein, which include, by way of
example and not of limitation, the extinguishment of fires and prevention
of loss of life and property, automobile accidents, medical emergencies,
hazardous materials incidents, and other similar public emergency
situations.
B.
The Fire Company may also provide nonemergency and public service
functions, such as, again by way of example and not of limitation,
removing water from property after storms, and assisting in the removal,
abatement and prevention of damage or injury to persons or property,
whether through natural causes or man-made situations.
C.
The Fire Company may also respond to calls for mutual aid and provide
services of like nature to municipalities outside of the Borough.
D.
The Fire Company may also conduct and participate in such training
activities and drills, either within or outside of the Borough, as
may be deemed necessary by the officers of the Fire Company to maintain
proficiency in providing service.

Members of the Fire Company, in addition to actually participating
as firefighters as authorized above or while going to or returning
from any authorized activity recognized by the Borough, are also authorized
to do the following things:
A.
Engage in activities as outlined in § 19-2, when duly called for or authorized by the chief of the Fire Company or other officer in charge of the Fire Company;
B.
Engage in performance of other duty or activity to the extent that
they are required to be considered to be employees of the Borough
pursuant to and for the specific and limited purposes of the Pennsylvania
Workers' Compensation Act of 1915, P. L. 736, No. 338, as reenacted
and amended.[1]

The purpose of this chapter is to recognize the Fire Company
as the official fire company of the Borough and to state authorized
activities for firefighters for workers' compensation purposes.
