As used in this article, the following terms shall have the
meanings indicated:
Any paper, cardboard, wood, or other type of surface with
printed, pictorial or illustrated materials thereon, prepared for
the purpose of transmitting to the reader or observer any information
or message concerning political activity.
Prior to any person or committee placing any political sign
within the confines of any public right-of-way within the Township,
there shall be posted with the Township Secretary a bond in the amount
of $100. The amount of the bond may be altered from time to time by
Resolution of the Board of Commissioners as needed for the effective
implementation of the purpose of this article.
At the time of posting of the bond required in § 558-2 of this article, there shall be submitted to the Township, on a form supplied by the Township, the following information:
A.Â
The name and address of the responsible person who is erecting the
political signs or who will be responsible for their removal;
B.Â
The political nature and purpose of the poster or sign to be placed;
C.Â
The date when the political sign will be erected and the date when
the political sign will be removed; and
D.Â
In no case shall any such political sign or poster be posted for
a period longer than 60 days.
All political signs must be removed within 10 days after the close of the election polls, or the date calculated in § 558-3D above. If the signs are not removed as stated above, the $100 bond shall be forfeited in full.
Nothing in this article shall be construed to grant to any person
or committee any license, permission or consent to post any political
sign within any right-of-way within the Township of Stowe.
If any sentence, clause, section, or part of this article is
for any reason found to be unconstitutional, illegal or invalid, such
unconstitutionality, illegality or invalidity shall not affect or
impair any of the remaining provisions, sentences, clauses, section
or parts of this article. It is hereby declared as the intent of the
Township of Stowe that this article would have been adopted had such
unconstitutional, illegal or invalid sentence, clause, section or
part thereof not been included herein.
