At the annual organization meeting, the Board of Supervisors shall elect, by a vote of the majority of the members, a qualified person to serve as the Township Solicitor for one year, though subject to termination at the pleasure of the Board. This individual shall be well-learned in state and federal law. The Solicitor's hourly rate compensation shall be approved by resolution at the organization meeting. In the event of a vacancy, the Board of Supervisors shall appoint a qualified attorney for the unexpired term.
The Township Solicitor shall perform all such duties as authorized by the Second Class Township Code.[1] Requests for the Solicitor's services shall be made either by the Board through its Chair or Vice Chair or by the Township Manager or his/her designate.
