On the following bridges and streets or parts of streets, by authority granted by § 4902(a) of the Vehicle Code, it shall be unlawful for any person or persons to drive any vehicle or combination having a gross weight in excess of the maximum prescribed below for that bridge or street or part of street, as the case may be:

Any person who violates any provision of this section shall be prosecuted under §§ 4902(a) and 4902(g-1) of the Vehicle Code, and, upon conviction, shall be sentenced to pay a fine of $150 plus $150 for each 500 pounds, or part thereof, in excess of 3,000 pounds over the maximum allowable weight, and costs.

Local deliveries of food, fuel and other like necessities may be made over the roads, streets and highways herein enumerated in a vehicle which, including load, exceeds 8,000 pounds.

The weight restrictions specified in this section shall not apply to fire engines or other fire fighting apparatus, snow removal equipment owned, used or hired by the Township, police and rescue squad vehicles and equipment or road building and maintenance vehicles and equipment owned, used or hired by the Township or by the Manchester Township Municipal Authority, or to school buses or mass transit buses or vehicles on their regularly assigned routes, or to farm equipment or machinery engaged in general farm activities.
