[HISTORY: Adopted by the Town Meeting of the Town of Swansea as Ch. 5, Art. I and Art. III, of the 1988 Revised General Bylaws. Amendments noted where applicable.]
A.
All motor boats shall (except when prevented by a narrow channel or when approaching or leaving the shore or other boats or passing under bridges or rounding sharp bends) keep at least 150 feet distance from anchored or moored boats, piers, rafts, or the shore.
B.
In all such cases the speed of such motor boats shall be reduced to head way speed, so as to provide full visibility and control, and prevent their wash from being thrown into, or causing excessive rocking to other boats, barges, aquaplanes or other devices being towed by power.
C.
The operator of a towing boat shall be responsible for compliance therewith.
The Town will not be responsible or liable for stolen property, loss of goods, or any act of vandalism to property, or injury to persons.
No breaking of glass on the roadway, in the parking lots, and/or at the ramp shall be allowed. No dumping of one's personal trash in the receptacles shall be allowed. This does not include leftover picnic supplies used at the picnic area.
A.
The fee for the launching permit shall be $3, payable on receipt thereof, to Massachusetts residents only. Out-of-state residents shall pay $3 per launching or $15 for an annual permit.
B.
Each permit so issued shall be effective for the calendar year during which it shall have been issued.
C.
Each launching permit shall be numbered, one number on the ticket to present and matching number on the ticket to be retained by the department.
Every launching permit shall be numbered and contain on its face, the registration number of the motor vehicle or vehicles and the identifying registration number or other means of identification of the boat and trailer to which it applies, the name of the person to whom issued and his address. All residents' permits shall be visibly affixed to the right front window of the towing vehicle.
Each launching permit shall apply to a single boat. Any person launching more than one boat shall have in his possession a launching permit for each boat so launched.
All rules and regulations will be adhered to by those securing launching permits. Anyone violating these rules and regulations will be asked to leave and the permits issued to such person will be revoked, and the monies paid will not be refunded. If a resident of the commonwealth is in violation, his right to use the ramp will be revoked after his notification by mail.
All persons using the boat launching ramp and access road shall carefully avoid any possibility of polluting the area with oil or fuel leaks or other contaminants.
