There shall be created an Economic Development Committee composed of between five members and seven members.
A. 
A member of the Economic Development Committee shall be a resident of Hopewell Township, or the operator of a business located within Hopewell Township, or both.
B. 
All members shall serve without monetary compensation.
C. 
Members of the Economic Development Committee shall be appointed by the Mayor of Hopewell Township.
D. 
Vacancies. Any vacancy occurring during a term of appointment shall be filled, for the unexpired term, by an appointee of the Mayor's choosing.
A. 
Two members shall be appointed for a one-year term, two members shall be appointed for a two-year term and three members shall be appointed for a three-year term.
B. 
Upon the reappointment of a member, or the appointment of a successor to a member, each term shall be for three years or until expiration of the then current, unexpired term, whichever occurs first.
The Township Economic Development Director shall be a member, ex officio, of the Economic Development Committee and shall serve as liaison to the Township Committee.
The powers and duties of the Economic Development Committee shall be:
A. 
To encourage new business development and the promotion of existing businesses along the State Highway 49 Shiloh Pike corridor, including the Professional Retail, Highway Commercial and Highway Commercial Business Zones and businesses in proximity thereto in particular.

B. 
To encourage economic development in Hopewell Township, generally.
C. 
To encourage the development of the Hopewell Township Business Park, in particular.
D. 
To report on and make recommendations to the Township Committee regarding economic needs, achievements, and issues of concern.
E. 
Initially, to organize a "get acquainted" meeting of Hopewell Township and neighboring businesses.
