Because of the powers given to political subdivisions
by the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code, the purpose of this Part 2 is to
allow the regulation and control of motor vehicles on the public streets
and highways of the Township of Muhlenberg.
The Muhlenberg Township police shall be authorized
and empowered to control and regulate traffic on the public streets
and highways of Muhlenberg Township, and the following shall be deemed
reasonable exercises of said police power:
A. Regulation of
traffic by means of police officers or official control devices.
B. Altering or establishing
speed limits, as authorized in Subchapter F of Chapter 33 of the Pennsylvania
Vehicle Code, Act No. 81, P.L. 162, June 17, 1976, as amended.

C. Enforcement of
speed restrictions authorized under Subchapter F of Chapter 33 of
the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code, as amended, as follows:

(1) The rate
of speed of any vehicle may be timed on any highway of the Township
of Muhlenberg by Township of Muhlenberg police officers, using a motor
vehicle equipped with a speedometer. In ascertaining the speed of
a motor vehicle by use of a speedometer, the speed shall be timed
for a distance of not less than 3/10 mile. All other provisions required
for the enforcement of speed restrictions under Subchapter F of Chapter
33 of the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code, as amended, are hereby incorporated
herein by reference.
(2) The rate
of speed of any vehicle may be timed on any public street or highway
of the Township of Muhlenberg by a police officer of the Township
of Muhlenberg, using a mechanical or electrical speed-timing device,
which shall be of the type approved by the Department of Transportation
of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. All other requirements for the
enforcement of speed restrictions as authorized under Subchapter F
of Chapter 33 of the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code, as amended, are hereby
incorporated herein by reference.
Persons violating this Part 2 shall be subject
to all fines and penalties as may be defined and enforced pursuant
to the provisions of the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code.
