Pursuant to Section 11 of the Uniform Fire Safety Act P.L. 1983,
c. 3831, the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code shall be locally enforced
in the Borough by the Bureau of Fire Prevention.

The Bureau of Fire Prevention shall enforce the Uniform Fire
Safety Act and the codes and regulations adopted under it in all buildings,
structures and premises within the established boundaries of the Borough,
other than owner-occupied one- and two-family dwellings, and shall
faithfully comply with the requirements of the Uniform Fire Safety
Act and the Uniform Fire Code.

The Bureau of Fire Prevention established by subsection
11-1.2 shall carry out the periodic inspections of life hazard uses required by the Uniform Fire Code on behalf of the Commissioner of Community Affairs.

The Bureau of Fire Prevention shall be under the supervision of the Administrator, provided that to the extent required by law, the Fire Official appointed pursuant to subsection
11-1.5 of this section shall be the Chief Administrative Officer of the Bureau.

a. Appointments. The Mayor shall, with the advice and consent of the
Council, appoint a Fire Official and such inspectors and other employees
as may be necessary in the Bureau of Fire Prevention.
b. Term of Office. The Fire Official, inspectors and other employees
shall serve for a term of one (1) year, expiring on December 31.

Pursuant to Sections 15 and 17 of the Uniform Fire Safety Act,
any person aggrieved by any order of the Bureau of Fire Prevention
shall have the right to appeal to the Construction Board of Appeals
of the Borough.
