A.
There shall be a Local Defense Council consisting of not more than
fifteen (15) members, to be appointed by the Mayor to serve at his
pleasure. The Council shall have the functions, powers and duties
prescribed by general law, executive order, ordinance or resolution.
(New Jersey Laws of 1953, Chapter 438, as amended, N.J.S.A. App. A:9-41)
The Chairman of the Council shall be the Municipal Disaster Control
Director.
B.
A Municipal
Disaster Control Director shall be appointed by the Mayor and shall
serve as Chairman of the Local Defense Council pursuant to state laws
and regulations. (N.J.S.A. 40A:9)
C.
The Local Defense Council and the Municipal Disaster Control Director
shall have such official tenure and such functions, powers and duties
as are provided by state statute and executive orders, rules and regulations
thereunder.
