This chapter shall apply to all municipal tennis courts of the
Borough of Mount Arlington which shall be under the jurisdiction of
the Mayor and Council. The Mayor and Council may delegate by resolution
the Board of Recreation Commission of the Borough of Mount Arlington
as its agent for the control and operation of said courts.
The following rules and regulations shall apply to all municipal
tennis courts at all times:
A. Players shall observe proper tennis etiquette at all times.
B. Tennis shoes or similar nonmarking rubber-soled shoes must be worn
when using the courts.
C. Only players and instructors are permitted on the courts.
D. Chairs shall not be permitted upon the courts or within the perimeter
of the mesh fence.
E. Profane language or the drinking of alcoholic beverages is prohibited
within any tennis court complex. Food, soft drinks and littering are
not permitted on the courts.
F. No animals are permitted in or around the tennis court complex.
G. No bicycles or other vehicles are permitted on the tennis courts.
H. Courts are for tennis only. Any other use of the tennis court is
not permitted.
I. Defacing or damaging the courts in any way is prohibited.
J. Play shall be restricted to one-hour periods when other players are
waiting. Priority of players waiting to take the courts will be established
by placing a racquet from each group on the Waiting List Board near
the entrance to the courts: No. 1 peg is next in line to use a court,
No. 2 peg is second group, etc. Players are requested to play doubles
when three or more groups are waiting.
K. When others are waiting, time allowed to play will be determined
as follows:
(1) Players taking a court before the half hour must give up the court
on the next hour. Example: Players commencing play at 10:25 must give
up court at 11:00.
(2) Players taking a court after the half hour may continue play for
the remainder of the half hour and through the entire next hour. Example:
Players commencing play at 10:35 may continue play until 12:00.
(3) Adult players [18 years of age and over] will have priority for the
use of the courts from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. during weekdays,
holidays not included. Younger players using the courts during the
above times must give way to adult players when requested.
(4) Guests will be restricted as follows: One guest player per single
match; two guest players per double match.
The Mayor and Council reserves the right to establish by resolution
such other rules and regulations from time to time as may be necessary
for the proper operation of the tennis courts. Said additional rules
and regulations adopted by resolution shall not be in force and effect
until they are conspicuously posted at the courts.

This chapter shall be enforced by any member of the Board of
Recreation Commission, Police Department or other authorized officer
or employee of the borough.
In addition to the penalties set forth in §
151-6 of this chapter, any person convicted of violating any provision of this chapter shall, also at the discretion of the Municipal Judge, be subject to suspension or revocation of his or her tennis privileges for a period of up to 90 days.

Maximum penalty. Any person violating any part of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be liable to the penalty provided by Chapter
1 Article
III.
