Pursuant to the provisions of N.J.S.A. 26:3-19 there is hereby created the office of Assistant Health officer, who shall be appointed by the Board of Health and who shall serve for a term of one year commencing on the first day of January of the year of appointment.
The Assistant Health Officer shall receive such compensation as is determined by the Board of Health, which compensation shall be in lieu of all fees, costs and other allowances for service as Assistant Health Officer, and shall perform such functions and duties as shall be prescribed by law and assigned from time to time by the Board of Health.
