[Adopted at time of adoption of Code (see Ch. 1, General Provisions, Art. I)]
It shall be unlawful for any person to operate any motor vehicle or other tractor, trailer, or tractor-trailer combination, having a gross weight in excess of that herein respectively prescribed, upon any of the following highways, bridges, or portions thereof:

The following words when used in this article shall have the meaning described to them in this section except in those circumstances where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:
EMERGENCY VEHICLE
The Fire Department vehicle, police vehicle, ambulance, blood delivery vehicle, armed forces emergency vehicle, one private vehicle of a police or Fire Chief or Assistant Chief or Ambulance Commander or Assistant Commander or of a river rescue commander used for answering emergency calls or other vehicle designated by the State Police under Section 6101 of the Vehicle Code.[1]
MOTOR VEHICLE
Any vehicle or combination of two or more vehicles, the use and operation of which is regulated by the Vehicle Code, 75 Pa.C.S.A. § 101 et seq.
SCHOOL BUS
A motor vehicle designed for carrying more than 10 passengers, exclusive of the driver, and used for the transportation of schoolchildren.

The following motor vehicles shall be exempted from the restrictions imposed in § 324-21 above.
A. 
School buses.
B. 
Emergency vehicles.
C. 
Vehicles making local deliveries or pick-ups.
A. 
The Board of Supervisors of Southampton Township may issue permits for the movement of motor vehicles of a weight in excess of limits in § 324-21 and require such undertaking or security as the Board of Supervisors deems necessary to cover the costs of anticipated and probable repairs and/or restoration necessitated by the permitted movement of vehicles.
B. 
All actions taken under the authority of this section shall be taken in accordance with the rules and regulations adopted from time to time by the Board of Supervisors and in the absence thereof in accordance the Vehicle Code, 75 Pa.C.S.A. § 101 et seq. and/or with the rules and regulations adopted by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Transportation as found in Title 67 of the Pennsylvania Code.
The Township shall erect and maintain restrictions signs designating the restrictions as provided in this article. In addition, the Township shall also place an advance informational sign at the intersection nearest each end of the road which would allow drivers to avoid the road. However, failure to post a restriction sign designating the restricted portion of the road to traffic moving in the opposite direction or failure to post any advance informational signs shall not constitute a defense to a violation of this section.
Any person operating a motor vehicle in violation of the restrictions in § 324-21 is guilty of a summary offense and shall, upon conviction, be sentenced to pay a fine of $75, except that any person convicted of operating a motor vehicle with a gross weight in excess of 30,000 pounds shall, upon conviction, be sentenced to pay a fine of $150 plus $150 for each 500 pounds, or part thereof, in excess of 3,000 pounds over the maximum allowable weight.
The provisions of this article are severable. If any sentence, clause of section of this article is for any reason found to be unconstitutional, illegal, or invalid, such unconstitutionality, illegality or invalidity shall not affect or impair any remaining provisions, sentences, clauses, or sections of this article. It is hereby declared the intent of the Board of Supervisors that this article would have been adopted had such unconstitutional, illegal, or invalid sentence, clause, paragraph, section or part thereof not have been included herein.
