The Township Solicitor shall be counsel to the Mayor and Township
Committee and to any other boards, commissions or departments as directed
by the Mayor and Township Committee and render all appropriate legal
advice as required and requested. The Township Solicitor shall be
the chief legal officer of the Township and shall be responsible for
the legal affairs of the Township.
The Township Solicitor shall do and perform legal services and
otherwise provide general overall representation of the Township.
The Township Solicitor shall hold office for a term of one year
or until a successor shall be qualified and shall devote such time
to the performance of the duties of the office as may be necessary.
The Township Solicitor shall be paid such compensation as a
retainer for the regular, recurring services as counsel to the Mayor
and Committee and other board, commissions or departments as may be
needed, from time to time, be fixed by the salary ordinance of the Township. In addition, the Township Solicitor shall be paid for
services performed not covered by the retainer. Compensation paid
shall be in accordance with this chapter and the Professional Services
Agreement between the Solicitor and the Township.
