The Mayor shall appoint, by and with the advice and consent of the Board of Trustees, a Clerk, a Treasurer, a Water Clerk, an Attorney, and an Engineer who shall hold their offices during the mayoral term for which they are appointed, unless sooner removed, and until their successors are appointed and qualified.
All officers, whether elected or appointed shall before entering upon the duties of their respective offices, take and subscribe to the following oath or affirmation, which oath or affirmation so subscribed shall be filed in the office of the Village Clerk:
I do solemnly swear (or affirm as the case may be) that I will support the Constitution of the United States, and the Constitution of the State of Illinois, and that I will faithfully discharge the duties of _____ according to the best of my ability. |
The Clerk of the Village, the Treasurer, the Village Marshal, the Street Commissioner shall each before entering upon the duties of his office, execute and deliver a bond with security to be approved by the Mayor and Board of Trustees, payable to said Village in such penal sum as may, by resolution, be directed by the Board, conditioned for the faithful performance of the duties of his office, and the payment of all moneys received by such officers according to law and the ordinances of said Village. All such bonds shall be filed with the Clerk except that of the Clerk, which shall be filed with the Treasurer.

The Mayor may remove any appointed officer in accordance with 65 ILCS 5/3.1-35-10, as amended.
Wherever any vacancies shall occur in any manner whatever in any of the appointive offices provided for in this article or for the unexpired term of any elective office wherein the Mayor and Board of Trustees are now empowered by statute to fill such vacancies, the Mayor and Board of Trustees shall fill such vacancy at their next regular meeting, unless the interests of the Village require it to be done sooner, in which event, the Mayor or any two members of the Board may call a special meeting for that purpose.
