No person, firm or corporation shall hereafter install or operate equipment for the burning of fuel or the storage of oil in connection therewith in any building in the Borough of Woodlynne without first obtaining a permit therefor as is hereinafter provided.
No such permit shall be issued except for the use of oil-burning equipment tested and listed by the Underwriters' Laboratories and installed in accordance with the regulations for the installation of oil-burning equipment and for storage and use of fuel oils in connection therewith as recommended by the National Fire Protection Association and approved by the Middle Department Rating Association.

Any person, firm or corporation desiring such permit shall make application in writing to the Building Inspector or designated Combustible Inspector of the Borough of Woodlynne, New Jersey, stating the make of such equipment, by whom manufactured, the location in the Borough wherein it is proposed to install the same and the method of the proposed installation. Said application shall be accompanied by a fee as provided in Chapter 295, Fees, to be paid to the Building Inspector or designated Combustible Inspector. Immediately upon the installation of such equipment, it shall be the duty of the Building Inspector or designated Combustible Inspector and the Plumbing Inspector to inspect the same and, if found to comply with the provisions of § 434-2 of this chapter, they shall endorse their approval on said application and deliver to the applicant or owner of the building a permit signed by them authorizing the operation of said oil-burning equipment as installed. No such equipment so installed shall be placed in operation, except to test the same, until such permit shall have been obtained.

The said Building Inspector or designated Combustible Inspector and Plumbing Inspector may at any time reinspect the equipment installed under the provisions of this chapter, and shall revoke the permit where dangerous conditions are found. They may also at any time inspect oil-burning equipment installed prior to the enactment of this chapter and if, in their judgment, any of such equipment is of such character or so installed as to create a fire menace they shall prohibit its operation until such condition is remedied, in which case it shall not be operated thereafter until a permit is secured as provided herein.

Any person or persons, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be liable to a fine not exceeding $500 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 90 days, or both, for each offense.
