In order to achieve a greater degree of safety to life and property
in the City of Weatherford, there is hereby created a commission to
be known as "City Emergency Service Commission", and hereinafter referred
to as commission.

The City Emergency Service Commission shall consist of 12 members.
The members are: Chief of Police, Deputy Emergency Management Director,
Mayor, Fire Chief, Municipal Hospital Administrator, City Building
Official, City Street Superintendent, City Water Superintendent, representative
from Ambulance Service, Superintendent of Weatherford Public Schools,
City Maintenance Supervisor, and Director of Public Safety of Southwestern
Oklahoma State University. All members shall serve without compensation,
but shall be allowed all necessary expenses actually incurred while
in the performance of their official duties, when such expenditures
are approved by the Board of Commissioners.
The commission shall elect annually from among its members a
chairman, vice- chairman and secretary. It shall adopt, and may amend
from time to time, such rules and regulations, not inconsistent with
the Constitution and laws of the State of Oklahoma and charter and
ordinances of the city, for its own organization and procedure and
transaction of official business, as it may deem proper. It shall
hold regular meetings and shall keep a public record of its proceedings.

The duties of the commission shall be to make a detailed and
comprehensive study of unsafe conditions within the municipality and
to prepare plans and recommendations as will eliminate or reduce unsafe
conditions; to foster educational programs designed to make the public
more safety conscious; to conduct safety campaigns as in their judgment
will assist reducing accidents within the city; to cooperate with
county, state and federal authorities, departments and agencies, in
matters pertaining to or affecting the safety of the public within
the city.
The commission shall, when called upon to do so by the Board
of Commissioners, make reports to the board on all matters considered
by the commission and any recommendations of the commission upon the
matters considered, and shall recommend legislation as may be necessary
to carry out the recommendations and suggestions of the commission.
