For the purpose of this ordinance, the City is hereby divided into the following classes of zones:

Low Density Residence, to be known as R-1 Zones

General Residence, to be known as R-2 Zones

Rural Residence and Farming, to be known as R-3 Zones

Seasonal Residence, to be known as R-4 Zones

Downtown Commercial, to be known as C-1 Zones

Highway Commercial, to be known as C-3 Zones

Shopping Center, to be known as C-4 Zones

Industrial, to be known as I-1 Zones

Industry and Service, to be known as I-2 Zones

Resource Protection, to be known as P Zones

Note: "Shoreland areas," as defined, are supplemental to the above zones and are subject to the provisions of Section 104.21, in addition to the provisions of the zone in which they are located.

(b)

The boundaries of these zones are shown upon the Official Zoning Map, which, together with all notations and explanatory material thereon, is hereby adopted by reference and made a part of this ordinance, said map being entitled "Zoning Map, City of Old Town, Maine."

§ 103.1 Rules governing zone boundaries.

Where uncertainty exists as to the boundary lines of zones as shown on the official zoning map, the following rules shall apply:

(a)

Where boundaries are shown as approximately following the center lines of streets or railroad rights-of-way they shall be construed to follow such center lines;

(b)

Boundaries shown as approximately following plotted lot lines or town boundary lines shall be construed as following such lines;

(c)

Boundaries shown as following shorelines or the center lines of streams, rivers or water bodies shall be construed to follow such lines;

(d)

Boundaries shown as parallel to or extensions of the features listed in Section 103.1(a) through (c) above shall be so construed and distances not specifically indicated shall be determined by the scale of the map;

(e)

Where physical or cultural features existing on the ground differ from those shown on the official zoning map, or uncertainty exists with respect to the location of a boundary, the board of appeals shall interpret said map.
