A certain document, three copies of which are on file in the office of the Clerk of the Borough of Montvale, being marked and designated as the "International Fire Code, 2015, New Jersey Edition," as published by the International Code Council, is hereby adopted as the Fire Prevention Code of the Borough of Montvale for the control of buildings, structures and premises as herein provided; and each and all of the regulation, provisions, penalties, conditions and terms of said International Fire Code are hereby referred to, adopted and made a part hereof as if fully set out in this article, with the additions, insertions, deletions and changes, if any, prescribed in this article.

Owners of commercial buildings having more than one retail establishment are required to identify all rear and side doors which lead into the structure. This shall be accomplished by permanently affixing signs to the exterior of the structure, constructed with durable materials and readily visible letters which shall contrast with the sign background and have an appropriate width-to-height ratio to permit the sign to be read easily. In addition, all owners of commercial buildings having more than one retail establishment and single and multi-unit residences shall identify the location of all fire walls contained in the structure. This shall be accomplished by permanently affixing signs to the exterior of the structure, said signs to be constructed of steel plate which is three inches wide by 21 inches long of gray reflective background with red reflective two-inch lettering, vertically placed, to read "Fire Wall."
Any limits referred to in the International Fire Code, 2015, New Jersey Edition, in which the storage of explosive materials is prohibited are hereby established as follows: There shall be no storage of explosive materials within the municipal boundary of the Borough of Montvale.
