The purpose of this article is to provide the ability for development
of residential subdivisions to be flexible in design, lot size and
layout, to preserve natural site features and provide for open space
(with or without community recreational areas) in conjunction with
residential development. It is intended that this type of development
will result in less impact to natural features, reduce developed area,
road construction and impacts to storm drainage and allow for maintenance
of agricultural lands. The overall intent is to maintain the prevalent
rural character in the Rural District as identified in Section 3 of
the Comprehensive Plan by incorporating a subdivision design that
conserves certain portions of the land that is to be developed that
will add to or maintain the rural character.
