Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:14-95, the governing body of the Borough
of Palmyra hereby establishes the Junior Firefighters' Auxiliary along
with the basic rules and regulations to govern the activities of the
Auxiliary with the hope that junior firefighters or cadets will eventually
seek membership in the all-volunteer Palmyra Fire Department upon
reaching the appropriate age in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40A:14-98.
Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:14-96, no persons shall be eligible
for membership in the Junior Firefighters' Auxiliary who is less than
14 or more than 18 years of age. Persons between the ages of 14 and
18 shall be required to obtain permission to join the Auxiliary from
their parents or guardian. Such permission shall be in writing and
duly notarized.
The Borough shall provide members of the Junior Firefighters'
Auxiliary established as an auxiliary to the Palmyra Fire Department
with the same insurance coverage as provided for regular volunteer
firefighters of the Borough under N.J.S.A. 40A:10-29 and 40A:10-31.
The Palmyra Fire Department shall establish rules and regulations
for training and performance of duties by all cadets which will be
submitted with all subsequent amendments for approval by the Council
by resolution and made available for public review in the Clerk's
office of the Borough of Palmyra and at the Fire Department.
The following acts are prohibited for all cadets:
A. The use of alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs and/or tobacco products
by any junior member is strictly prohibited while in the firehouse
or Borough property 50 feet surrounding the firehouse or at any Fire
Department-sponsored function. Any junior member violating this rule
shall be subject to suspension or expulsion.
B. Other actions established by the rules and regulations of the Fire
Department as approved by Council.
The Fire Department and the governing body of the Borough of
Palmyra retain the right at all times to terminate any cadet for good
cause. Good cause shall include but not be limited to the following:

as approved by the Council.
