This chapter shall be known as the "Zoning Ordinance of the
City of Sanford."
The purpose of this chapter, made in accordance with the Comprehensive
Plan, is to decrease congestion in the streets; to secure safety from
fire and other dangers; to provide adequate provision of transportation,
sewerage, schools, parks, and other community facilities and utilities;
and to promote the health, safety, and general welfare. This chapter
is made with reasonable consideration, among other things, of the
character of each district and its peculiar suitability for particular
uses and with a view to conserving and stabilizing the value of property
and encouraging the most appropriate use of land throughout the community.
No building or structure shall be erected, structurally altered,
enlarged, moved, or used and no land shall be used unless in conformity
with the regulations of this chapter.
