[Adopted as § 2-603 of the General Bylaws; amended 5-10-2016 ATM, approved 7-10-2016]
The Town shall have a Tree Warden located within the Public Works Department. The Tree Warden shall be appointed annually by the Town Manager. The Tree Warden shall have all duties as are provided for under MGL c. 87 and other such duties as the Town Manager and Director of Public Works assign.
Such aforementioned duties shall include, but not be limited to, the following as may be further specified in this bylaw:
A. 
The Tree Warden shall maintain records that show the activities of his office, including a record of receipts and expenditures. He shall from time to time make recommendations to the Select Board and Town Manager regarding the care of trees in the Town.
B. 
Expending funds, in coordination with the Tree Committee, appropriated for planting trees on Town land under the jurisdiction of the Tree Warden.
C. 
Work in conjunction with the Tree Committee to seek grants or other assistance concerning the preservation and maintenance of trees in Town.
D. 
Development of rules, regulations, tree inventory, manuals and other data, in conjunction with the Tree Committee, to carry out the purposes and intent of this bylaw for approval and promulgation by the Select Board.
E. 
Enforcement of this bylaw.
F. 
The Tree Warden shall recommend persons to be appointed as Deputy Tree Wardens to the Town Manager, who shall be the appointing authority.
