[1973 Code § 6:1-1]
A Municipal Court for the Township of Green Brook, in the County of Somerset, is established, as of January 1, 1949, pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 264 of the Laws of 1948, as amended and supplemented.

The name of the Municipal Court shall be the "Municipal Court of the Township of Green Brook in the County of Somerset."

The Municipal Court shall have a seal which shall bear the impress of the name of the Court.

There shall be a Judge of the Municipal Court, who shall be appointed by the Township Committee and who shall serve for a term of three years from the date of his appointment and until his successor is appointed and qualified, provided, however, that the Judge who shall be in office upon this ordinance becoming effective shall be the Municipal Judge for a term equal to the balance of the term for which he was originally appointed. Any appointment to fill a vacancy caused other than by expiration of term shall be made for the unexpired term only.

The Municipal Judge shall receive an annual salary as may be provided by ordinance to be paid in the same manner as the salaries of other municipal officers are paid, and which shall be in lieu of all fees, costs, and any other allowances whatsoever.[1]

The Municipal Court and the Judge thereof shall have, possess and exercise all the functions, powers, duties and jurisdiction conferred by the provisions of Chapter 264 of the Laws of 1948, as amended and supplemented, (N.J.S.A. 2B:12-1 et seq.) or by any other law or rule of the Supreme Court of New Jersey.

The Township Committee shall appoint a Municipal Court Administrator who shall serve for a term of three years from the date of appointment and until a successor is appointed and qualified. The Municipal Court Administrator shall receive an annual salary as may be provided by ordinance, to be paid in the same manner as the salaries of other municipal officers are paid, and which shall be in lieu of all fees, costs, and any other allowances whatsoever. The Municipal Court Administrator shall perform such functions and duties as shall be prescribed by law, the rules applicable to municipal courts, and by the Judge of the Municipal Court.

The Township Committee may also appoint a Deputy Municipal Court Administrator, who shall act during the absence or temporary disability or disqualification of the Court Administrator. The Township Committee may also designate a suitable person as Acting Court Administrator to serve during the absence of the Court Administrator or Deputy Court Administrator.

The Municipal Court shall be held in the Township Hall except in unusual circumstances where another location may be agreed upon by the Judge of the Court and the Township Committee. The Court shall sit regularly at hours established by the Judge, with the regular court hours being subject to the approval of the Township Committee, and at such other times as the business of the court may require, subject to the rules applicable to municipal courts.
