No person, organization, association or corporation shall hereafter maintain, operate or conduct a place for the keeping of farm animals, fowl or other animals within the limits of the Village of Lima, except as hereinafter noted.

As used in this article, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
FARM
An occupied property containing not less than 12 acres.
FARM ANIMALS, FOWL OR OTHER ANIMALS
Includes cows, pigs, sheep, rabbits, goats, horses, guinea fowl, chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys and the like, except dogs, cats or other customary household pets.
Nothing herein contained shall prevent the maintaining, operating or conducting a place for the keeping of the above mentioned farm animals, fowl or other animals within the limits of the Village of Lima, provided that the same are used in connection with the business of a farmer living on a farm within the Village limits.
Nothing herein contained shall prevent nonfarm residents of the Village of Lima from owning and keeping small domestic animals, such as dogs and cats, as household pets.

Nothing herein contained shall prevent the keeping of chickens on properties that are not farms within the Village as authorized under Article III of this chapter.

Any person violating the provisions of this article will be guilty of an offense and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punishable by a fine of not more than $250 or imprisonment for not more than 15 days, or both such fine and imprisonment. Each day's continuation of the offense shall be considered a separate offense.
