It shall be unlawful within the limits of the City of Hazleton, Pennsylvania, to store, sell, keep for sale, possess or discharge any kind of fireworks, firecrackers, torpedoes, caps, guns, pistols, revolvers, canes, cannons or any other substance, thing or appliance or product whatsoever intended for noisemaking or for pyrotechnic display.

The Mayor is hereby authorized to issue permits for public exhibitions of fireworks under the direct supervision of experts in the handling of same.

Nothing herein contained shall be so construed as to prevent the sale, possession or use of firearms and weapons when and as authorized by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania nor to prevent the possession or use thereof by such persons as may be duly authorized under the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, or who, by reason of their official duties in the protection of lives and property and the preservation of the public peace, may find it necessary to possess or use the same.

Any person or persons, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this article shall, upon conviction, be punished by a fine of not more than $2,000, plus costs, or in default of payment of such fine and costs, by imprisonment for not more than 90 days. Each day that any violation of this article continues shall constitute a separate offense.
