The Town shall be responsible for all repairs and maintenance
of all sewer lines up to the property line. However, repairs and maintenance
to lateral connections resulting from the property owner's use
(i.e., clogs, grease, tree roots, etc.) shall be the responsibility
of the property owner.
The Town will not assume the responsibility for the repair of
any sewer connection to sewer mains, unless the sewer connection has
been made in the proper manner according to this code or the ordinances
governing the connections to sewer mains in the Town. The property
owner shall be responsible for repairs and maintenance of the building
service connection pipe, up to the property line.
The Town will not assume the responsibility for the repair of
any private sewer lines, whether connected to the sewer mains or not.
The Plumbing Inspector or the Director of Public Works shall
have access to any premises where it is necessary to determine whether
or not any surface water drains, floor drains, cellar drains, or any
other drains for other than sanitary purposes are connected in any
manner to the sanitary sewer mains of the Town. All drains other than
for sanitary purposes shall be permanently disconnected before the
Town shall assume the responsibility for the repair of any portion
of any sewer connection.
All repairs must be made by a licensed master plumber or licensed
underground utility contractor, and the Director of Public Works shall
be notified of any repairs before commencement of work.
