[Adopted 12-9-1997 by Ord. No. 121-97; amended in its entirety 12-9-2020 by Ord. No. 327-2020]
A.
Act 60 of 1995 of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, known as the "Second Class Township Code" provides in Section 606 thereof[1] for the compensation of Township Supervisors and, further, provides therein that Supervisors of Townships having a population between 10,000 to 14,999 may be compensated in an amount not to exceed $3,250 per annum. The population of East Whiteland Township, according to the 2010 United States census, the most recent official census, is 10,650.

Editor's Note: See 53 P.S. § 65606.
B.
Said Act authorizes the Board of Supervisors to set the compensation of Supervisors subject to the limitations set forth in the Act, and subject to the constitutional and public policy limitations of the commonwealth which precludes application of an ordinance increasing elected officials' compensation to those elected officials serving a term of office at the time the ordinance is adopted, unless they have been elected to a new term of office commencing after the effective date of the ordinance.
