This chapter shall apply to the creation of the Sustainability Advisory Board and to the appointment, terms, functions and powers of the members appointed to serve on the Board.
The Town Board determines that in order to continue to protect and safeguard the health, safety and welfare of the Town of Perinton and its residents, the Town will draw upon its rich history of citizen involvement and volunteerism to enhance the quality of life in the Town by establishing the Sustainability Advisory Board.
A. 
The Advisory Board is established:
(1) 
To support the Town as it launches internal green initiatives to heighten awareness of the environmental impact of Town operations and codes;
(2) 
To support the Town by recommending that the sustainable and green infrastructure measures of the Comprehensive Plan are considered in applicable situations, and make recommendations for future revisions of the Comprehensive Plan;
(3) 
To gather information on current sustainability and green practices of Town departments, make suggestions for the improvement of such practices, and recommend green/sustainable action steps to appropriate boards of the Town;
(4) 
To increase public awareness of the value of sustainability by developing and participating in education programs as approved by the Town Board;
(5) 
To provide assistance in securing grants that might contribute to the reuse and preservation of sustainable infrastructure in the community.
B. 
The Board will identify community issues and concerns and develop potential strategies, proposals, plans or solutions and, in an advisory capacity only, periodically present such to the Town Board for consideration.
A. 
The Sustainability Advisory Board shall be comprised of seven members consisting of residents of the Town of Perinton, appointed by the Town Board and serving at the pleasure of the Town Board, persons residing within the Town of Perinton who are interested in helping Perinton enhance its reputation as a green and vibrant community. The first three members appointed shall hold office for a term of one year and the second four shall be appointed for a full term of two years. Vacancies on the Board shall be filled in the same manner as the original appointment, except that a vacancy occurring other than by the expiration of a term of office shall be filled only for the remainder of the unexpired term.
B. 
The Supervisor, Chairman of the Planning Board, Commissioner of Parks and Recreation and other officials that may be hereafter designated by the Town Board shall be ex-officio, nonvoting members of the Board.
The Town Board shall designate a member of the Sustainability Advisory Board to act as Chairperson thereof. At the first meeting of the Board, its members shall elect from among themselves a Recording Secretary. The Board shall adopt rules and procedures for its meetings. It shall keep adequate records of its meetings and activities. The Board shall hold meetings at such times and places as its members shall determine, from time to time, but no less frequently than once per calendar quarter. The Board shall report to the Town Board on its activities at least annually.
The members of the Board, including ex-officio members, shall receive no compensation for their services as members thereof but may be reimbursed for reasonable and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of their duties within the appropriations made available therefor.
