[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Commissioners of the Township of Reserve 3-12-1973 by Ord. No. 349. Amendments noted where applicable.]
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
BUILDING
As used in this chapter, shall mean any dwelling, house, apartment or multiple-family dwelling, any commercial or industrial building or other structure.
PERSON
Any natural person, partnership, firm or corporation, and shall include all of the owners, tenants or occupiers of real estate.
The Township Engineer is, after the effective date of this chapter, directed, instructed and required to assign numbers to all buildings in the Township of Reserve on a street or road basis, in an orderly and constructive manner, keeping in mind the future construction of buildings on vacant land.
In the assigning of numbers to buildings, any buildings that, as of the effective date of this chapter, have, in the opinion of the Township Engineer, proper numbers shall retain such numbers, but any buildings that do not have, in the opinion of the Township Engineer, proper numbers or have number conflicting with other building numbers shall be assigned new numbers by the Township Engineer.
When a new building is erected, the person (as defined in this chapter) shall immediately apply to the Township for a number, and the Township Engineer shall assign a number to such building.
When the Township Engineer assigns a number to a new building or any building which, in the opinion of the Township Engineer, does not have a proper number or has a number conflicting with another building number, the Township Engineer shall notify the person (as defined in this chapter) of the number that has been assigned to said building and direct the person to have said number placed conspicuously in front of said building.
[Amended at time of adoption of Code (see Ch. 1, General Provisions, Art. I)]
Within 30 days from the service of said notice by the Township Engineer, it shall be the duty of the person (as defined in this chapter) to place and maintain the number assigned to said building in accordance with the premises identification requirements of the Uniform Construction Code.
[Amended 1-16-2023 by Ord. No. 692; 12-16-2024 by Ord. No. 701]
This chapter shall be enforced by a criminal action in the same manner provided for the enforcement of summary offenses under the Pennsylvania Rules of Criminal Procedure. Any person, partnership, corporation or other entity who or which violates or permits a violation of the provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction in a summary proceeding, pay a fine of not more than $1,000, plus the costs of prosecution, and in default of the payment of the fine and costs of prosecution, shall be imprisoned for a period not exceeding 90 days. Each day, or part thereof, that a violation continues shall constitute a separate violation.
The provisions of this chapter shall be severable, and if any provisions thereof shall be held to be unconstitutional, invalid or illegal by any court of competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of any of the remaining provisions of this chapter. It is hereby declared as legislative intent that this chapter would have been enacted had such unconstitutional, invalid or illegal provisions not been included therein.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent with the provisions of this chapter are hereby repealed.
