A.
By reason of hazardous traffic conditions and other safety factors, by authority granted by Section 4902(b) of the Vehicle Code,[1] it shall be unlawful for any person to drive a vehicle, except passenger cars and other vehicles on said streets in excess of the following maximum weights:

B.
Any person or persons who violate this article shall be prosecuted under Sections 4902(a) and/or (b) and 4902(g)(1) and/or (2) of the Vehicle Code and, upon conviction, shall be sentenced to pay a fine of $150, plus $150 for each 500 pounds, or part thereof, in excess of 3,000 pounds over the maximum weight allowed above and costs if found guilty of violating Section 4902(a); and sentenced to pay a fine of not less than $25 and not more than $100 and costs if found guilty of violating Section 4902(b).

C.
School buses, emergency vehicles, and vehicles making local deliveries or pickups within the Borough of Avondale, are exempted from the weight restrictions imposed by this article.
