Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-154.5, the Mayor with the advice
and consent of the Council shall appoint a Superintendent of Public
Works who shall supervise and direct operation of the Department of
Public Works.
The Superintendent shall hold a public works manager certificate
as provided in N.J.S.A. 40A:9-54-6g, unless exempted by statute, and
shall be entitled to such tenure rights as are provided by statute
upon certification.
The Borough Administrator may appoint a Deputy Superintendent
of Public Works, whose duties shall include the responsibility to
supervise and direct at job and project sites the work of the other
employees of the Department of Public Works. In the event of the absence
of the Public Works Director due to illness, vacation, or otherwise,
the Deputy Superintendent shall perform such additional supervisory
duties and functions as may be assigned.
