A. 
The following words, as used in this article, shall have the meanings respectively ascribed thereto, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:
PERSON
Any natural person, partnership, association, firm or corporation.
STREET
Any public street or alley in the Borough of Lansford.
B. 
In this article, the singular shall include the plural, the plural shall include the singular, and the masculine shall include the feminine and the neuter.
It shall be unlawful for any person to construct, install or maintain any awning, any part of which shall extend over any sidewalk in the Borough unless the lowest part thereof shall be at least seven feet six inches above the surface of such sidewalk and unless the other edge of such awning shall be at least three feet measured in a horizontal distance, inside the curbline of such sidewalk.

It shall be unlawful for any person to construct or maintain any step, porch, portico, bench or seat, doorstep, railing, bay or jut window, areaway, cellar door or cellarway or any other device or thing that shall occupy, project into or above, or encroach upon any sidewalk, street or alley in the Borough of Lansford.
B. 
Handicap ramps or lifts shall be an exception to the prohibition outlined in § 385-15A if the following conditions are met:

(1) 
The ramp area shall not exceed 36 inches in width or the lift area shall not exceed 48 inches in width.
(2) 
The handicap ramp or lift, once constructed, must leave a minimum of 36 inches of sidewalk space for pedestrian travel.
(3) 
All necessary permits must be secure prior to starting work.
It shall be unlawful for the owner of any real estate in the Borough of Lansford to plant any tree or bush or to allow the same to grow upon his property or along the sidewalk abutting thereon unless a) the branches and foliage of such tree shall, at the lowest point thereof, be at least seven feet six inches above the surface of the sidewalk and at least 13 feet six inches above the surface of the street or alley; and b) no portion of such shrub shall extend beyond the line of such sidewalk.
Any thing or condition prohibited by this article shall constitute an encroachment or obstruction to the street or sidewalk, as the case may be, and upon 10 days' notice from the Borough Council, the owner of the real estate upon which such obstruction or encroachment shall be, or abutting upon the street or sidewalk where such obstruction or encroachment exists, shall remove the same, in default of which the Borough Council may cause the same to be removed and shall collect the cost of such removal, with an additional amount of 10% from such property owner in default.

Any person who shall violate any provision of this article shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine not exceeding $1,000 and costs and, in default of payment thereof, shall be subject to imprisonment for a term not to exceed 30 days. Each day that a violation of this article continues shall constitute a separate offense.
