There is hereby established a Council on Aging and an advisory board consisting of seven members and two alternates, selected from among Town residents and appointed by the Select Board to serve designated, staggered terms. Terms shall be for three years.
The Council on Aging Director is hired by and ultimately responsible to the appointing authority, the Select Board. The Select Board has the power to hire, evaluate and/or terminate the Director, and may delegate some or all of these functions to the Town Administrator. The Director has the responsibility for the hiring and supervision of paid staff and unpaid volunteers.
It shall be the duty of the Council on Aging to carry out programs designed to meet the needs of aging residents (60+ years of age) in coordination with programs of the Department of Elder Affairs, pursuant to MGL c. 40, § 8B.
