A.
On the following bridges and streets or parts of streets, by authority granted by Section 4902(a) of the Vehicle Code,[1] it shall be unlawful for any person or persons to drive any vehicle or combination having a gross weight in excess of the maximum prescribed below for that bridge or street or part of street, as the case may be:

B.
No over-posted-weight vehicle, except local traffic as defined in Chapter 1, shall be driven on a posted street with a gross weight in excess of the posted limit unless the Township has issued a permit for the vehicle or vehicles, and the applicant has posted a bond in an amount equal to $50,000 per linear mile of use, or any portion thereof. The Township may refuse to issue said permit if another reasonable alternative route exists. No over-posted-weight vehicle shall be driven over any independently posted bridge.
C.
Any person who violates any provision of this section shall be prosecuted under Sections 4902(a) and 4902(g-1) of the Vehicle Code[2] and, upon conviction, shall be sentenced to pay a fine of $150 plus $150 for each 500 pounds, or part thereof, in excess of 3,000 pounds over the maximum allowable weight and costs. The penalty provision set forth herein shall supersede any other penalty provisions in Chapter 142 for violation of this section.
