(a) 
All streets and alleys shall be designed and constructed in accordance with the Transportation Criteria Manual and City of Austin Standards and Standard Specifications.
(b) 
Where topographical conditions, drainage channels, proposed limited development on one side of the street, or other special conditions warrant a local street of less than fifty (50) feet in width, a lesser width may be approved by the director of public works.

(a) 
Arterial streets shall be located and designed in accordance with the roadway plan and the Transportation Criteria Manual.
(b) 
Designation of collector streets shall be made by the Planning and Zoning Commission based upon the recommendations of the director of planning and director of public works.

The director of public works is authorized to build or allow construction of one-half of a divided arterial roadway abutting or bordering a subdivision if the roadway pavement to be constructed has a minimum width of twenty-four (24) feet and can be safely utilized as a two-way street until construction of the entire divided roadway is completed.
